Begin with your own sentence, question, topic, photograph or conversation. WordCat identifies useful new words and creates natural collocations around them from the start. Its chatbots also highlight relevant vocabulary and lexical chunks so you can choose what you want to learn.

Your learning begins with your life—not a generic curriculum.
Bring your world into WordCat
A personal thought, photograph or conversation becomes useful vocabulary, natural collocations and highlighted chunks that you can choose to save.
Because the language begins with something meaningful to you, it is immediately connected to a real reason to learn it.
02
Build natural English
Turn words into chunks, phrases and real expression.
Words and collocations give you the building blocks. WordCat helps you extend them into lexical chunks, common phrases and complete patterns that you can use in real communication. Create chunks from saved vocabulary or save useful chunks directly from chatbot conversations.

From a word to a complete expression
WordCat develops opportunity into a good opportunity, an opportunity to learn and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to…
The path is simple: Word → Collocations → Lexical chunks → Complete expression.
03
Practise until it sticks
A smarter memory system keeps your English active.
Words, collocations and lexical chunks enter WordCat's personal SRS system. My36 keeps a focused set of language active while intelligent review brings older language back before it is forgotten. AI quiz bots make you retrieve and use it instead of simply flipping flashcards.

Intelligent spaced repetition and Easy, OK, Hard grading
Memory, Drill Pack and Drill Trainer
Challenge Trainer and AI-generated retrieval quizzes
WordCat does not just store vocabulary. It keeps making you retrieve and use it.
A focused memory loop
New language moves through a repeatable cycle: Learn → Recall → Grade → Review → Retrieve.
Quiz bots ask you to recall a word, complete a chunk, choose a natural collocation or use the language in a sentence.
04
Train with your English
Turn remembered language into real ability.
Once words and chunks are active in My36, WordCat uses them to create personalised training. Read stories built from your vocabulary, develop sentences you care about, practise different registers, speak through real situations and receive feedback on your mistakes.
Personalised passages and stories built from My36
Comprehension and learner writing
Sentence Improver and Rephrase across different registers

Pronunciation Practice and Situation Trainer
The language you learn becomes the material you train with.
Personalised input becomes personalised output
Your My36 vocabulary becomes a story, comprehension practice, learner writing and tutor feedback.
The same idea can also be developed from simple to neutral to formal English, helping you express yourself flexibly.

Knowing a word isn't the same as using it. Give WordCat a word you're learning and it expands it into the chunks and phrases native speakers actually use it in — "make a decision," "come to a decision," "a tough decision to make." That's how single words become fluent English. Try it below.

That gap isn't just "more vocabulary." It's learning to use English creatively — to build sentences from your own thoughts, again and again, until it feels natural.
The App-Hopping Trap
You've tried to fix this, but most tools keep you passive:
📱
Duolingo — Fun, but you just tap buttons and repeat fixed phrases.
👨🏫
Video Courses — You buy them with good intentions, but quit because 'watching' isn't 'doing'. No feedback = no fluency.
🗂️
Anki — Powerful, but you collect thousands of cards you never see again.
📺
Netflix — Enjoyable, but too fast and too dense to learn from.
💰
Tutors — $30/hour is expensive to maintain long-term.
You don't need another app. You need a system that knows you can't be 100% productive every day. WordCat adapts to your energy, not the other way around.
Three Gears. One System.
Stop feeling guilty when you're tired. Switch gears instead. We combined active training with passive immersion so you never break the loop.

“The explanations in my language changed everything. I finally understand why something is wrong, so I can fix it in my own writing.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Is WordCat right for beginners?+
WordCat is designed for elementary to advanced learners (A2 to C1). If you're a true beginner with zero English, take the free CEFR placement test first — and consider starting with a more basic app until simple sentences feel comfortable.
How does the My 36 system work?+
You always have 9 sentence cards active. Each card has 4 keywords, so you're focused on 36 words at any time — plus 36 collocations the app generates automatically. When you add new cards, the oldest move into long-term Memory. Nothing is lost — graduated cards come back via spaced repetition.
What happens to my old vocabulary?+
Nothing is lost. When a card leaves your My 36, it moves into long-term Memory. The Memory module brings it back at the right time, testing whether you really know it. Get something wrong and it goes into your Drill Pack to come back until you nail it.
Can I practise speaking?+
Yes. Pronunciation Practice records you and gives word-by-word feedback. Every song and passage has speech-to-text practice. The Situation Trainer lets you speak through any real-life scenario. And the chat characters in Academy all support audio in and out.
How does the free trial work?+
You get 48 hours of full access — no credit card required. Explore everything, create as many cards as you like, and see if the system fits you.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime. Annual plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
What devices does WordCat work on?+
WordCat is a web app that works on modern browsers — phone, tablet, and computer.
How is this different from Duolingo?+
Duolingo is great for starting. WordCat is for when you're ready to move past fixed exercises and start creating your own English — from your own sentences, photos, and topics.
Can I use WordCat for IELTS or TOEIC prep?+
Yes. When creating cards, you can choose Everyday, IELTS, or TOEIC focus — the vocabulary shifts to match. The Academy and Course catalogue include exam-focused content.
How much time do I need per day?+
Around 20–30 minutes of focused WordCat practice beats hours of passive watching. On busy days, the Feed gives you 5-minute micro-sessions.
How much content is included?+
Over 3K exercises, including 1,200 songs and 1,500 audio passages, across CEFR levels A1 to C1; a 250-lesson free fluency course with more courses arriving; and unlimited vocabulary creation from your own sentences and photos.
Do I need a teacher?+
You can absolutely learn independently with WordCat. If you also work with a teacher, they can help you build content that feeds back into the system.
